Destination Sidmouth, England!

Sidmouth is literally the definition of a off the beaten path town, but it is one of the cutest towns. I have ever seen, mom and pop shops and if your a dog lover this place is for you. Its like full of sweet kind people and dogs I mean come on now you can’t go wrong with that. Yes it is a small coastal town but man it packs a punch of adventure. Its about three hours by train, and roughly forty five minutes by taxi from the train station. We travelled in from Paddington Train Station yes the train station with the cute little Paddington Bear, for those who are Paddington fans. After boarding the train, we traveled to Exiter St. Davids train station. Let me tell you its a much calmer train station then Paddington was. Paddington Station was a tad crazy, can’t say its like that every day but it was some issue with the train so of course we caught the crazy.

Sidmouth 2

Upon arrival from the we took this wonderful taxi service called Apple Taxi Service. I have been in my fair share of taxis and these people are so wonderful. HIGHLY recommend them, then we arrived at one the finest hotels I have stayed out. It’s called the Dukes Hotel and no its not the five star Maui Four Seasons, or Sandals resorts no its even better. These people will go to any length for you. They served as a hot breakfast cooked to order I might add. You have a menu not just a bar of choices they set out, and they give you a whole rack of toast as a appetizer. They also serve a lovely lunch and dinner selection. It is fabulous, the food is so good, and they are again so kind. We even had a tour back in London he gave me his personal phone to call and confirm. How may strangers do you know do that? The rooms are also bigger then your average hotel rooms. I’m not joking if you go already planning to go or this blog inspires you please stay here.

Sidmouth 3

So as I said earlier, its a lovely coastal town and yes the beach from this angle is rocky or as they said pebbles. Ha I know exactly what you are thinking but a lot people take a few “pebbles” and color them or leave inspiring messages and where they are from. It’s actually really cool. I love the idea, and I think its trending other places. But never did I think I would see it over seas. But isn’t it beautiful to stare out into. Further on down, it does get more beachy. But that water is like ice. But hey if you like stuff like that go for it, I can’t be doing all that.

Its so interesting to me to compare other places on beaches perspective, the sand texture and colors but again that water is like ice. But isn’t my munchkin just adorable. About 100 yards from where we are standing there is a walk way that leads around the corner to a bar craved up in the rock, and you have to climb up it’s called Jacobs Ladder. Pretty neat to check out, plus they also have ice cream up there. Come on now you can’t go wrong with that.

Now for the real reason we were in Sidmouth, this incredible woman right here. This is my best friends grandma, she’s one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She lives right here close to where this photo was taken. She walks around the town everyday, like when I get 92 I hope to be like that. She’s awesome. She took us all over Sidmouth, from eating at a local pub and wondering the town. We even got to play at a local play ground they had a zip line when I was a kid where was that at the park? Like come on now.

The town was simple but adorable, everything is locally owned. They have a homemade fudge store, toy stores, cute little boutiques. You name it you can probably find it. It’s awesome, words just don’t describe it. They also have this bus that carries all over including a donkey sanctuary. Sadly we didn’t get to go we didn’t have enough time but hey donkeys are so cute next time for sure. I love them.

Sidmouth 1

Well thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me. Make sure you color a pebble in Sidmouth and write where you are from.

Destination Katakolon, Greece!

Our final stop in Greece, it is a adorable island but be for warned the taxis will rip you off. For a ten minute drive for us the cab driver wanted 100 euros just to go no telling what they wanted to get back. The town is adorable and its a bit of walk but well worth and then you can catch this train 6 euro a person. It goes to a gorgeous beach, vineyard and several other neat stops. So we shopped around and then caught the train out to the beach.

Katakolon 1

Train selfies you know, lol so this is the train great views continuous breeze and runs the same route all day. Well worth your euros, especially if you like adventures. We did the second stop which was the beach but the vineyard did look heavenly and the people that rode with us said it was great.

Katakolon 2

Yes they have huge rocks mostly through out the ocean and yes it was chilly but let me tell you, if you can get a ways out where the rocks are fewer and far less in between its like swimming in a aquarium. TONS of fish, crabs all sorts are hidden in these rocks which hey it you are in between the rocks with less likely predators will bother you. Ha that one though at least. But its a dark blue clear, so you will be able to see the rocks.

The island may be small but it sure does pack a punch of a adventure. Lots of little cafe’s and wifi if you get a drink. Beautiful clothing stores, and awesome nick knacks on every corner. If you arrive by cruise ship its about a half a mile walk, but you can rent scooters, forewheelers, even cars. But truthfully that train is really the best route. Cheap, stops at good places, and really friendly people.

Katakolon 3

Thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me. Watch along the water you will while walking around the sea creatures are everywhere in Katakolon!

Destination Athens, Greece!

Wake up hit the ground running you are in Athens and if you are like us, you wanna climb the Acropolis! Let me tell you it gets crowed quick. But we will get to all that later I’m going to take you on a adventure to the top and I’m not only talking about the Acropolis I’m talking the highest point in Athens. So grab your tennis shoes and lets go!

Athens 5

Early morning means early, early lol so this was taken off the balcony of our room. We had to be fully dressed and ready by 7 a.m. and we set of on our journey. Athens is a popular place and there are tons of people and traffic, so much a women actually got sick and I guess that tour guide didn’t realize everyone including the women could hear her talking about it so needless to say it started out as a awkward tour. But hey that’s what makes any good story telling adventure starts with right?

Athens 4

So we actually got ahead of the tour so we could stop and take pictures such as this, our first stop on the hike up was Herodes Theatre! Amazing isn’t it? All that history just sitting there with stories and all things they have seen we wish we could have. Just amazing also as you can tell we are fairly high up. This isn’t even a portion. But air on the side of caution you will be basically moving straight up hill. Plus they still have the original marble and it is slick I almost fell twice of course I’m super clumsy.

Athens 3

Here it is, this treacherous up hill climb every second worth it. They actually are redoing it which to me isn’t fair because this is the real history. This is what is left. But again as stated in others my opinion not others, but truly amazing isn’t it. All this history left here sorry I am a histroynerd. But I won’t bore you with all that. So once you reach this point you walk the path they once walked, sadly you can’t go in. But they do have serval viewing points to see it from different angles. My niece and I actually walked around to the front and took a seat to just chill for a minute and the stone was actually fairly cool.

Athens 2

Here is our we did it poses! We did though we came, we climbed, we conquered. It is truly a magnificent feeling. So on our way down we then started passing thousands trying to climb up, pushing and shoving and acting crazy. So definitely getting up early and avoiding the crowds is well worth it. Some people actually came on there own from scooters or taxis, but I would highly suggest a tour. You can do whatever you want though, but whatever you do see this.

Next we went down town for a few hours, you want to talk about chaos that is the legit definition of chaos. But for all you shoppers it is heaven each street has stores all you can think of, like one street nothing but shoes, or another street nothing but belts and wallets and well you follow me. Never under estimate the amount of shopping you can achieve in Athens. Also make sure you know somewhat the way back because we got lost twice. Ha but its ok we figured it out. But if you are like me I’m fine getting lost but when you are on a timed tour its not so great.

Athens 1

Well thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me. Climber, shopper, explorer get to Athens.

Destination Mykonos, Greece!

Mykonos is like a dream, between the glassy blue water and all the yachts around the island to the views of the little white houses on the cliffs. Also quick and easy to get around once you get off your boat or fly in however you get there, take this boat called the water taxi. It takes you around the island and its like two to four euros depending on how far you want to go. Whether you are beach goer, or shopper, or just a explorer this island packs a punch ready for any adventurer you are.

Mykonos 4

So lets start with all the cool ally ways, that all lead over the island each one with its special twang. Best part!! Wind is constantly blowing through these ally ways creating a wonderful breeze while you wonder. But seriously look at the way to the water, oh my goodness! We did swim off a local beach which was wonderful, but again the pebbles hurt my feet. I’ll show you a picture as to what they look like.

Mykonos 1

While walking the shore line you see everything you imagined Greece to be. Clear waters, white houses on the cliff, and tons and tons of great smells feeling the air. Plus if you are a yacht person you will be in heaven. Seriously you just need to go sooner rather then later.

Mykonos 3

Don’t you just want to dive in? Can’t you just feel the cool refreshing water already?

Mykonos 5

As our afternoon began winding down, we decided to spend the rest of our afternoon swimming. As you can see these are the pebbles i was talking about. They are so beautiful to look at but man alive they hurt to step on. The water is so cool and refreshing but watch out for crabs they love hiding in the rocks. They will pinch haha not like a bad pinch or anything.

Mykonos 2

From my family to yours thanks for traveling to this part of the map with us. So get on your yacht do like we did and act like we own the place and get to Mykonos!

Destination Santorini, Greece!

As many of you have been reading, I recently just came back from my third over seas trip. Many more to come! So as you probably also know we are a cruising family so we decided to tour Greece by boat, so we boarded the Royal Caribbean International (RCI) Jewel of the Seas. It was a blast! Stop number one was Santorini Greece, and if you don’t know my mom is currently fighting cancer. So she couldn’t do everything that she wanted to on this trip it hurt to watch but on the flip side we still had the best time making the memories we got to! Our day began with a afternoon arrival to Santorini now if you have a fear of heights proceed with caution. But if you are anything like my best friend, she faced her fears and loved every second of it.

Santorini 6

So you have a few ways of getting up the island one- bus, car, or ATV up a winding road (picture will come soon) two- cable car or three- walk up hill. Same options go for coming back down. We took a excursion to a black sand beach which as you can probably guess is made out of volcanic ash. Which yes it does get hot, but its not as bad as i thought it would be. But I would recommend maybe some water shoes, or sturdy sandals it not soft sand and the shore line is rocky.

Santorini 5 View from the bus almost to the top.

Santorini 4Here’s the view from our chair at the beach, there is a lovely local bar with restrooms, wifi and beach chairs if you eat or drink there. Which hey that’s a great deal. Plus the people were super friendly and they also had a cute little souvenir shop located next door.  So well priced and again every one was so nice.

Santorini 2

Now again this isn’t your soft sand beach day, right about here you will sink into all the little pebbles. Now I have tender feet so it took me a few minutes to get around but that’s me. But man isn’t it beautiful! The water is super cool blue clear like not the typical turquoise its more like deep blue jean but clear. Oh gosh it is so pretty, and the water felt cool and refreshing.

Santorini 1

After a fun filled day at the beach we got in line for the cable car, now it is long but it will move quickly. There were tons of adorable shops, and cold water along the way. Plus this beautiful view. Now getting to this spot is mostly up hill, so prepare yourself. The cable car is a beautiful view up or down. You should definitely ride it at least once while on Santorini.

Santorini 3

See what I mean about the sinking? Lol anyway thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me well us. Continue on our journey through Greece. See you from the top of Santorini!

Destination Black Pool, England!

Have you been to Black Pool? You need to, have you heard of Vegas? Well England’s Version is Black Pool it’s so much fun! From the casino’s and horse drawn carriages, this place has so much jammed packed into it a full day of fun! So are you looking for a fun day please try here!

Black pool 3

Once you see there version of the Eiffel Tower you know you are here! Our day started out as any other, pure excitement to get there not knowing what adventures were ahead and then we got there and my eyes filled with excitement. This place is so super cool first we walked around in ahh just taking it all in. They have got tons of casino’s, which I don’t know about yall but I love to dabble in the slots from time to time.

Black pool 2

Another great thing about this place they had so many horse drawn carriages, all different themes so cute. I’m a huge push over for most animals especially horses and dogs I love dogs. You feel like you literally in a another world secluded from all your problems or issues and are just there to have a good time. All the cute shops along the way are so fun to stop to look in!

Black pool 1

But our absolute favorite part was the old fashion pictures they are so much fun yea kind of corny but they are great memories to share. Definitely made the day’s adventure have a wonderful ending.

Thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me. Hope you hit the jack pot in Black Pool!

Destination Kirkcudbright- Borgue, Scotland!

The beautiful Scotland. Nothing I saw in this country wasn’t not beautiful it was so amazing I can’t imagine waking up everyday and seeing this country. I was lucky enough to stay in one of my best friends Scotland cottage it was so very lovely. Plus it was located in the cutest town, I would go back tomorrow and I typically don’t say that about places I have already been.

Scotland 1

I mean come on now! Just wondrous in every way. I eventually intend to many more places in Scotland but for now I just have these memories. Now lets get one thing officially straight it is very cold NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF YEAR! Take warm clothing lol as you will see in a later photo I took a rain coat which was not smart because I literally about froze. Also there’s not a whole lot of sunshine but it is worth every second, so upon arriving we walked down to the shore. It was like no beach I have been to before, water was a darker blue and there rocks on shore instead of shells but it was its own kind of beautiful. Scotland 2

Clearly you can tell who was prepared and who wasn’t..haha but back to business, see what I mean about the beach. Isn’t it just beautiful!! That night we sat around and relaxed and drank hot chocolate while the cold whirled outside, I felt a sense of home but home away from home. The next day we woke up and began exploring the town it was a small town but if you have red about me I’m from a small town so this was just fine by me. They had a few small restaurants, and coffee shops but the best we’re the shops  with homemade things which to me are some of the best things in life. I was able to get my Nana this wonderful homemade purse and wallet. She loved it!

Scotland 5

Sadly after we got done in town we headed back to the cottage and I had to come home home I was so very sad. But I considered myself so lucky that I got to see these all these great scenes on the way back. I felt a sense of a new sense of exploration, I had not been to a country that looks like that. It was a different type of beauty that pictures and words don’t describe its like your favorite food sitting there waiting for you to feast but for your eyes instead. Scotland 3

This is the last photo I took before we left Scotland, I know what your thinking another scenery picture but when you get their you see exactly what I saw and felt. So get out their and explore Scotland for the true beauty that lies there waiting to be explored.

Thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me. Get out bed go see Scotland no regrets will ever come.

Destination London, England!

London 3

London! London! London! I love London! Calling all Potter geeks it’s amazing! Ok again getting ahead of myself, when we landed we hit the ground running. We visited so many great places and one of my best friends was the best to show me all over. We started with Buckingham palace, again I envy the Queen her palace is amazing! The London Eye thank you Coke! Fun fact it was only suppose to be there for the new millennium and was so popular they kept it. We also visit Kings Cross Station, and the Tower bridge!

London 6So these are just the gates but this can at least give you some what of a idea of how magnificent palace. Try and watch the guards change it is very exciting, because despite what the movies tell you, you can’t even get close to the guards if certainly don’t mess with them! But hey you have to admit its pretty cool that you can stand at the gates. Or at least I think it is, any way the palace is a must see to add to your list of places to see.

London 4

Next we headed to the amazing London Eye. The views are spectacular from every angle, and for you Potter nerds you can see several movie scenes. We bought our tickets that day and the line wasn’t that long but I would suggest buying them in advance because lines are unpredictable. For all ages it is so much fun! London 5

After that we toured all over town, seeing the Prime Minster’s home and Lancaster square. As you saw earlier M&M world one of fun stops, but we also ate at one of our favorites places TGI Fridays. Being a tourist and sight seeing is a must add on your list, as you can Big Ben one was great photo op. The Prime Minster’s home was so cool to stand next to like I was someone important haha I wish. But lets get real here, Lancaster Square where they debate all the Harry Potter Films. We were in heaven!

London 2

The next day we went to Tower Bridge. It was incredible, and walk on it and over look the channel is it very peaceful! Very cool to walk on we sadly didn’t have time to walk the full length, but you need to at least walk a couple feet down it. Come on now its a adventure waiting to happen! London has this great essence about it that just makes you feel at home, no matter how far you are from home. They are all kind and very helpful even you are clearly, clearly lost they will help if you reach out and ask. Another place you may want to add to your list but we sadly didn’t have time to see but Wes Minster Abby next time in London that will be one of my first stops.

London 1

Our final stop before we caught our train to Scotland was Kings Cross Station. Yes where Platform 9 3/4 is, yes you can go through it pick you house we were Gryffindor’s! My heart was so full I’m sorry I’m a literal Potter geek at heart. So for all you Gryffindor’s, Huffle Puffs, Raven Claws or Slytherin’s make this a stop. So as you can imagine another check on my bucket list, this is one of my most treasured memories.

Thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me. Have a blast running through walls and touring London.

Destination Paris, France!

Is Paris on your list of places? I know it was on my mine another great bucket list trip checked of my list. Paris is big but so many things are inside to explore, and if nothing else go see the Eiffel Tower! It is so big and beautiful but my suggestion if possible go at night it’s like a totally different sight when it’s all lite up. We did so many great things while in Paris, explored Luxemburg and climbed the Eiffel Tower! Keep reading it will be a fun adventure!

Paris 1Literally stepped out of my cab and this picture was the sight! But we are getting way ahead of myself my adventure in Paris started the night before. So we shared a taxi with some lovely people we met traveling from Kenya, and they were so kind to cover our entire taxi fare! Can’t wait to share again another taxi so I can return the favor! So we get to our hotel and they have a roof top café where we view the Eiffel Tower while we munched on our snacks. Watching in ahh of the glow and after ten p.m. I believe I can’t remember what time to be exact, every hour they will turn the lights and it will sparkle through the night amazing to witness!

Paris 5

The next morning we woke bright and early to begin exploring Paris our day was filled so many exciting things to see and do! Our first stop was Luxembourg Gardens, STUNNING and I mean stunning this picture does no justice. Great for a early morning stroll or any time of the day really. Next we headed over to Notre-Dame! Oh my goodness it was a sight to see, it was so incredible I even met some wonderful people from Georgia I would recognize a fellow southern accent anywhere. Then we ventured over to the famous Champs-Elysees it is well worth the walk, especially if you are a big shopper! So many designers on one street its awesome to say the least. But if you are like me and are a impulse buyer at the first souvenir shop you see, they jam pack you in some of those places like sardines in a can. So personal advice get what you need and get out! Hahaha the next stop is probably the most talked about in Paris, the Eiffel Tower.

Paris 3

We came, we climbed, we conquered. Ok so lets get a little more detail in that last sentence so we took a cab to Eiffel Tower and got our tickets to go up to the top. Now you have two choices to get to the top you can take the stairs which if you can do that I completely commend you I would be out of breathe by the like the third or forth stair case. Or you can do like us and most others lol and take the sideways elevators. Which as scary that might actually sound it was like super cool. So the picture above was taken from the second level, which had stores, and a restaurant if that gives you any idea of how big it is. But the first level is one of the cooler stops glass floors! Yea you heard me!

Paris 2

See the people below? Did you think I was kidding? Yea my mom about had a heart attack thinking at any moment could possible plummet but I assure you it can handle ALOT! The climb is worth it! Now that we have talked about all the fun things I would suggest if you are able to purchase your tickets in advance but if not we didn’t so don’t think you have too. Now you have to wait in a extremely long line and go through tight security, but as you can see I had a back pack and it was great to carry everything but while you are in line put any bags in front of you and hold tightly. Nothing against anyone but that came form several people while their you don’t know, and being in a foreign country and your form of identification or money or money and once it’s gone it’s gone.

Paris 4

Our next stop is the great Arc de Triomphe! Now here’s the secret.. there is a underground tunnel starting about twenty feet from where we are standing. It will take you directly in the Arc and let me tell you the details are so amazing up close. well worth the walk over please don’t run out in traffic because you will get hit please please take the tunnel. Once you across you will be in complete ah of statues, and details and if you are a history nut like myself you will be in heaven. Another stop we got to make is Mulan Rouge any fans out there? You will love it if you are! So now we are finally to the picture that I first posted, we ate dinner and then headed back to the Eiffel Tower to see it all lite up! WHAT A SIGHT!! Yes it was pouring rain, and yes it was chilly but would have it any other way NO WAY! It was a wonderful way to send of another adventure and check several things off my bucket list.

Thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me. Enjoy strolling through Paris.

Destination Rome, Italy!

The saying goes when in Rome right? Well let me tell you a few great things to see and explore while in Rome! We didn’t have long but that was ok we saw some of the greats such as the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, and the magnificent coliseum! Plus the food was amazing! Rome 1First stop the Vatican! Magnificent just wonderful! I am envious of the Pope he has it made. You can wonder all over and explore for hours on end, and since we so happened to be there on Easter they were doing a special show to represent Easter. We didn’t have time for it all but it was really neat to view it from their perspective. It is a must to add to your list of sights or to see or for me personally it was a check of my bucket list. Rome 2Stop number two! The beautiful Trevi Fountain. Fun fact they say if you throw a coin and make a wish you will return to Rome! Let me tell you I threw about ten coins in their lol and my wish is finally coming true I will be returning to Rome next month! Another fun fact they collect all the coins every so often and divide it all up and return it to those in need. Like what a great country to do something like that! Rome 4Could literally stare at this fountain all day studying all the different stories and details it has to offer yea us too! Let me tell you from personal experience you want a photo you have to fight for it and this was in off season I dread to see how crazy high season will be! Ha stay tuned ill probably blog about a few different things to do in Rome.

Rome 3

Our last and finally stop in Rome was which you can guess by the picture the coliseum! We didn’t have enough time to tour the indoors but it was just as cool to wonder around and see it from the outside. Very easy to get too as well by bus or underground which was very clean and easy to navigate also very inexpensive quick way around Rome.  The Coliseum has now been proclaimed one of the natural wonders of the world so get on it! Most definitely bucket list worthy! It was a great feeling to check it off! So grab some good walking shoes and gelato and enjoy!

Thanks for traveling to this part of the map with me! Have a good time roaming Rome!
